Vanessa earned her Bachelor of Commerce, CPA designation and was selected to complete a post-graduate certificate in innovation at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Vanessa is an authentic and energetic leader known for her passion for education and innovation, which she brings to her new role as CEO and instructor at Brain Power! Karine is also the proud nominee and winner of many prestigious awards, such as the Order of Vaughan for 2021, top entrepreneur for the City of Vaughan, top small business for the City of Vaughan, Toronto City Mogul, and York Region’s Passion into Practice Award. Karine holds a number of influencer posts such as the official Education Expert and blog-writer for Vaughan’s SRC community (20k+ following) and an appointed Ontario Mentor for select top youth startups through the Vaughan Business Enterprise Centre (VBEC).

In addition, Karine has taught teacher-training courses at York University’s Faculty of Education and has provided professional development training for private school educators.
She is currently a research collaborator on a prestigious research team (winner of SSHRC Insight Grant Competition 2019) with the University of Western Ontario, University of Windsor, York University, TDSB, and YRDSB.
Karine has co-authored Brain Power’s math and problem-solving textbooks, an advanced grammar and classical literature textbook, and research that has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Educational Leadership and Urban Education. Karine continues to contribute to education policy and research. At Brain Power, Karine brings her passion for writing, public speaking, literature, textual analysis, philosophy, and the humanities to our programs, where she sees it her duty to inspire a love of learning and critical thinking. Karine is well-known for her passionate, quirky, and inspiring teaching from the heart, as well as her extensive knowledge in a variety of academic fields.
